"We're Talking About Practice!"
"We're Talking About Practice!"
These immortal words were uttered by one of the NBA's most well known guards a few year ago. Well, when it comes to bass fishing, practice is highly more important to anglers than it was to that NBA star. We need to put our time in on the water to increase our chances of a successful outcome.
Due to gas prices, the economy, family obligations, job obligations, church obligations, and unforseen occurances I have not put the same amount of practice time on the water this season that I did during my highly successful 2008 season. My tournament finishes have shown the results of that. There were tournaments last season that I got 3 or more practice days in. There have been at least 6 tournaments this season that I have fished naked (that means with no practice time).
As the season starts to wind down, I've reflected back on what I could have done better over the season. The two glaring things that stand out that I should have done more of are retying lures after catching fish and practicng more on the water. This has been a learning experience and just like what we should do everyday of our lives, I've learned something new. Don't talk about practice... do it!
